Lightened Bolognese Sauce
After the sauce (with the exception of the cream cheese) is put together, you can put it into the Crock Pot to finish. Set crock pot on low and cook for 4 to 6 hours. Stir in cream cheese until melted and then serve.

Ingredients
2 T Olive Oil or Canola Oil
1 lb. ground turkey breast or lean ground beef
½ lb. Italian Sausage
½ cup diced onion
½ cup diced carrot
½ cup diced celery
1 T minced garlic
1 cup Cottage Cheese
¼ cup tomato paste
1 jar Spaghetti Sauce (28 oz)
1 cup dry red wine (or white)
2 T balsamic vinegar
1 t. dried oregano
1 t. dried basil
½ cup cream or Neufchatel cheese
Directions
Heat oil in large pan. Add turkey breast and sausage breaking into small pieces. Cook until browned.
Process onion, carrot, celery and garlic in food processor until minced. Add to browned meat. Cook veggies until softened (5 minutes). Process cottage cheese in food processor until smooth. Stir into meat mixture.
Stir in tomato paste and cook 1 minute. Add tomato sauce, wine, vinegar, oregano, basil. Add salt and pepper to taste. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer sauce 40-45 minutes.
Add cream cheese and stir until melted.
