Slow Cooker Amish Pot Roast
Little prep time. Delicious result.
Ingredients
3 lb. Chuck Roast
1/4 t black pepper
1 t garlic powder
3/4 t dried oregano leaves
1 T worchestershire sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 cup brewed coffee
1 large white onion - sliced
2 bay leaves
To thicken gravy:
2 T cornstarch dissolved In about 3 T water
I also added just about 1 T of soy sauce to the gravy
Directions
Put roast in crock pot
Sprinkle with garlic powder, pepper, and oregano. Add onions and bay leaves. Pour the coffee, soy sauce and worchester sauce over the roast.
Cover and cook on Low for 9 hours. Do not open the lid during cooking time.
Remove meat and the onions from crock pot Keep warm
Discard bay leaves.
Add the cornstarch/water mixture to the sauce.
Just a note. I find the gravy thickens easier and faster if I put the juices into a sauce pan to cook.
Shred the meat. Pour the gravy over the meat and serve.
I served this over roasted potatoes and roasted carrots. But the options are many.......
