Chicken Alfredo Tortellini Soup

Really delicious. I do recommend making this the day before you want to serve it.
Cook time is about 1 hour
Because of the cream and the pasta in this soup I don't recommend using a crockpot.

Chicken Soup Cheezy NightBeforePrep

Ingredients

2T butter
Diced onions
Diced carrots
Diced celery
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb. Chicken breast cut into bite size pieces
1\2 t black pepper
¼ cup flour
1 quart chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream or half and half
½t red pepper flakes
9 oz. Cheese Tortellini, fresh or frozen
2 cups shredded Parmesan Cheese
1 pkg frozen spinach (thawed and drained)

Directions

In soup pot melt butter. Add onions, celery and carrots and saute about 3 minutes. Add garlic and saute 30 seconds more.
Add chicken and black pepper. Cook and stir about 3 minutes.
Sprinkle flour over chicken and vegetables. Cook and Stir to coat for about 2 minutes.
Add in broth, cream, and red pepper flakes. Cook on medium heat until.soup starts to thicken. Simmer for 30 minutes.
Now add tortellini and cook until pasta is tender.
Add the parmesan cheese a bit at a time and stir to melt.
