Stuffing
Of the "from scratch" variety
Ingredients
1 loaf white bread, broken into small pieces
½ cu. margarine
1 sm. onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
½ lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced - or - 1 can mushrooms
Garlic salt
Pepper
2 t. Thyme - or - 2 t. Poultry Seasoning
Directions
Melt margarine. Saute onion and celery until soft. Add mushrooms and cook for 1 to 2 minutes more.
Combine vegetable mixture, bread pieces and spices. Add water or chicken broth as needed. Bake at 350F for 45 minutes, uncovered.
This stuffing can also be used to put inside of a turkey or chicken if you prefer. Cooking time for meat will be increased by about 30 to 45 minutes.
