Beef Stew
The one with the slow cooker
Ingredients
Stewing Beef cut into cubes – approximately 1-½ to 2 lbs.
Sliced raw onion – 1 huge or 2 medium sized
Baby Carrots – approximately 1 lb.
Raisins – about 1 cup
Garlic cloves – 3 or 4 – smashed then diced up
3 cu. water
2 vegetable broth cubes (these cubes are large in size and usually use 2 cups water per cube – for this recipe I use only 1-½ cups of water) Knorr sells Vegetable broth cubes
black pepper to taste
¾ teaspoon Allspice
Directions
Put all ingredients into crock pot and cook on low for approximately 8 hours. At end of cooking time, drain off the liquid into a pan in order to make gravy. Heat liquid to boiling. Add flour to thicken (I used approximately ½ cu. flour dissolved in ½ cu. water). When gravy is done, return it to the crock pot stew. Serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes, or just as is with a nice crusty bread. Delicious!!!
